      Colloquio per Product & Engineering

      7 ago 2018

      Colloquio difficile

      Candidatura

Ho presentato la mia candidatura tramite segnalazione di un dipendente. La procedura ha richiesto 4 mesi. Ho sostenuto un colloquio presso Passport (Charlotte, NC) nel mese di ago 2018

      Colloquio

Mostly white male company, very few women and even less women of color. I interviewed for multiple roles at different times, every VP seemed like great sales people but did not possess a strong emotional IQ. They didn't ask good or even conversational questions. It seemed like the hiring manager was actively looking for someone who worked on the exact same thing they're working on with no room for fl It seemed like they're looking for a specific personality ("white") instead of talented leaders ("not smarter than them") that they can mentor ("get to do all the work"). They would benefit greatly from leadership and diversity training. I've worked in engineering 10+ years, and there were some red flags. They'll ask you to build an in-depth project. Then in-person, you won't get to use a computer for your computer engineering job. The group that interviewed me was all white males and it included trick questions. It seems like this place is always hiring which could be a sign of growth and/or high turnover, both could be factors. They make transit apps for cities, and they had no experience making them. Yet expect you to have experience building transit apps in your portfolio. If your background doesn't exactly like that, they'll schedule 3 rounds of interviews, have you pay for parking and cut your interview short, making you feel like you wasted their time. They don't seem to understand how to gauge talent, and seem to be looking for people who can just put their head down and work. There's ways to conduct a proper interview and handle rejections with courtesy, and it seems like courtesy isn't a concern for these folks.
