Colloquio per Social Media Marketing Manager

      Candidatura

Ho presentato la mia candidatura online. Ho sostenuto un colloquio presso Patch My PC (Dallas, TX) nel mese di nov 2024

      Colloquio

I was first approached to schedule an interview and first record a video through Loom answering 3 standard questions and to submit it prior to the interview. My first (and only) interview was virtually at 7:30 am (due to her being overseas) with the kindest HR rep who made me feel extremely comfortable and I thought the interview hit it off really well, especially with the expectations she set for the role I had mastered experience in, especially regarding youtube ads, content creation, etc. I have previously worked for multi-million ad campaigns and talked about my success with implementing creative ads, etc. She lastly told me the next step of the process is a test exam that would take 1 hour or so, then panel styled interview and then the 3rd and final interview was with the Marketing Director, then of course a background check and all normal procedures. I was sent the test exam link via email a few hours later by the marketing director and immediately took it. The exam itself is extremely flawed and not at all representative of mine (or anyone's) abilities within this job. It asked several questions that were more navigational on different social platforms, and other questions easily had multiple answers but you could only answer one. Additionally, you had 10 minutes to answer 16 questions 3 seperate back to back times, and then a personality section. That testgorilla section of the interview was horrible, rushed, and my scores certainly didn't match with my knowledge or skills.. that's for sure. I then sent an email to the Marketing Director thanking him for sending that, although many questions have multiple answers so it was a bit tricky. That was on a Friday, and then fast forward to Tuesday, I got an email saying they chose other more experienced candidates. While I completely respect their decision, it is a bit frustrating that I never got to speak to a marketing professional or share my successes, talents with the relevant department. I have certifications for every social platform and a great reputation in this field so I'm not sure how I wasn't qualified enough, but everything happens for a reason so no hard feelings! Prior to the interview and after, I did thorough research on the company and they honestly seem amazing. I think how they structure their organization (besides the interview process, haha) is admirable and they have a lot of quick growth throughout the past years that is very well deserved. I think whoever gets this position will really appreciate their culture and although I'm bummed I couldn't be apart of it, I still think highly of their organization and am happy to have had the (very slim) opportunity.

Hi there, thanks for sharing your experience and feedback. We appreciate you taking the time to go through our interview steps and for giving us your honest thoughts on the assessment. We hear you about the test format and the timing constraints, and we’ll look into that to see where we can make improvements. We know it can be frustrating not getting a chance to speak directly with the marketing team, and we understand how that might feel, given your background and certifications. Even though this opportunity didn’t work out, we’re glad you saw the good in our company and culture. We wish you the best in your future search and appreciate the time you spent with us. - Justin Chalfant
