      Colloquio per Sr Platform Engineer

      Candidatura

Ho presentato la mia candidatura tramite un selezionatore. La procedura ha richiesto 3 giorni. Ho sostenuto un colloquio presso PatientPoint nel mese di ott 2021

      Colloquio

I interviewed with a Sr. SWE Mgr who had recently joined PatientPont (< 3 months). The interview consisted of seemingly random Java trivia questions for ~30 minutes, and ~10 minutes for a coding challenge, and ~5 minutes for me to ask questions. The Java trivia q's were about finer details of some of the more esoteric features of the language like Generics, AICs, thread synchronization, and aspects of declarative streams. The interviewer didn't appear to have taken any time to review my resume (no questions about my background), and he did not appear to have prepared any questions to ask (technical or otherwise). I don't think he ever mentioned my name. He was improvising the questions he asked me. The coding challenge was delivered entirely verbally, with no statement written ahead of time, or test cases provided. They used an online code editor for the interview (I don't remember or care to name which one). The interviewer had a strong accent, so understanding him was the hardest part of the coding challenge, and lead to a miscommunication in functional requirements, even after I asked him to repeat the instructions twice. The interviewer left less than 10 minutes in the interview to solve the challenge. My overall impression was that the interviewer was asking questions he knew the answer to readily, instead of coming up with questions appropriate for the job role and candidate level of experience. I feel sorry for future candidates, and I doubt PatientPoint will find anyone to fill the role with this interview process at the head of it.
