I did a phone interview with the recruiter, a skype interview with the person who'd be my manager, a skype interview with the director, a ride along with someone already in the position and a final in person interview with the manager. The whole process went really quick, they move fast when they like someone.
I was contacted by them and had an informed and friendly conversation with a recruiter on their team. At the end she said she would recommend me to the hiring manager and would send me a link to an application I should fill out in advance. I filled it out and was a bit confused. It repeated most of not all of the questions from my call and from the resume they already had on file when they reached out to me. The application was also about 8 pages long, which is WAY longer than anything I had filled out for anyone else. It even had questions like my GPA which seemed odd considering this was a mid level role and I had been out of college for about a decade.
In the end they didn’t get back in touch after I submitted the application and I never heard from the recruiter why. It was sort of a pain that I wasted my time with such a long application but likely a blessing in disguise. The application form is one of their main products and it was difficult to use as well as too long. The position also had a required 60% travel expectation which would be difficult without a car in the NYC area (most people do not own cars here).

An internal recruiter reached out to me to do an initial phone screen. It was pretty in depth and she asked a lot of questions about my background. We then set up a 45 minute Zoom call with the hiring manager. The manager had very limited availability (7am, 5:30pm, etc.). I felt great after both calls, especially the manager call. I felt I had the right experience, exuded confidence, and answered his questions very well. After about a week, the recruiter was nice enough to call me and let me know that he enjoyed our conversation but was moving forward with people who have more tech sales experience. It was ironic to me because during the call he mentioned he didn't care what background people came from. The ad also says 1+ sales experience and I have more. The recruiter emphasized more experience yet I looked on LinkedIn and virtually everyone in the Boston office graduated college in 2015 or 2016 (I graduated in 2012). The manager himself graduated in 2015 as well. Overall, I truly think they want to catch people right out of college and morph them into what they want. They don't prefer experience. While this was a frustrating experience because I truly felt I excelled through the interview process, they were very responsive and the recruiter called me multiple times throughout (rather than email) which is professional. I just don't think it makes much sense to apply here if you're not a recent graduate and that is unfortunate.
