The hiring process was pretty simple. I would say I sort of got lucky. My mom walked into the store to buy a pair of shoes for herself. Her and the manager started talking and the manager told her that she is hiring for this store. So my mom told her how my daughter is looking for a job. My mom came home with a job application for me to fill. So I did that and went to payless the next day in the morning and asked for the manager. The manager took my application and asked me a few questions regarding my address, my education and then I had to do an assessment test on the computer in the backroom which was fairly simple. It included a few simple addition/subtraction/multiplication/division questions, some ethics questions like its okay to steal from the cash register yes no maybe sometimes, and some questions about your experience with working in team, in helping someone, in a leadership role. Then the manager told me she'll give me a call in about 3 days. The next day I got a call to schedule an interview the following day and the manager said its business casual. The following day I showed up for the interview in business casual and asked for the manager. I waited about 5 minutes and the manager showed up and led me to the staff/backroom. During the interview I was asked about strength/ weakness, behavioural questions, situational questions. Then I was asked to get on the sales floor like I work there. There was no customer in store so I started picking up shoes from the floor and putting them back the best I could. After 5 minutes, the assistant manager pretended to be a customer so I went upto her and introduced myself and asked what type of shoes is she looking for today. She told me she was looking for silver heels for a party. So I asked her shoe size and led her to that sections once I figured out where it was. I recommended two silver pairs and asked her what she thought. Then the manager came and said okay this is it and we went back to the staff room area. The manager asked me if I had any questions. So I asked her about the hourly wage, days off during exams, calling in sick. Then I was hired and began working 2 days after. Overall, the interview process was easy as long as you were confident and didn't forget to smile through out the whole thing.
