I had a phone interview that had been set up through a recruiter. She reached out to me due to my previous experience as an in home sales consultant for a construction company. The phone interview occurred a few days later and it was pretty laid back. She just wanted to get an idea of who I was and if I was familiar with Pella at all. Overall I had a great conversation with her. We were both transparent with each other, and she said, "sound great, I'm going to go ahead and move you forward with the hiring process. The hiring manager reach out to you on Friday." Fast forward to Friday: I receive an email, not from the hiring manager, and not even from the manager that interviewed me over the phone, but from the recruiter telling me. "Thank you for your interest but were going to pursue other applicants at this time." I was very taken aback. It was really frustrating and insulting to not even be acknowledged by the manager that interviewed me but I was passed off back to the recruiter to deliver the bad news. There would have been nothing personal had they chosen not to move forward with me, but the way it was conducted was unprofessional and surprising to me based on the reputation of Pella. I considered it a character reveal and am surprised that they would burn people so easily. I want to be clear though that this occurred through a franchise of Pella in Grand Rapids, MI called Pella Doors and Windows by Horne. I'm sure that the company as a whole is okay based on the overwhelming positive reviews. This is not an easy business and Pella really does have a good name. Other locations and franchises may be great this is just my experience.
