I scheduled the interview online, and went to the location at the appointed time. First I had an interview with the general manager and he asked me very basic questions like if I was familiar with animals, and stated that there was a no drug policy for all employees. I had a tiny nose stud at the time and I had forgotten to take it out before the interview so he asked me if I would be willing to not wear it and I said yes that it would not be a problem. After that I went into the office of a woman who was in charge of the kennels and it was very informal, she asked me more about my experience with animals, if I would have a problem cleaning up animal waste, and if I would be okay with a lot of physical exercise walking the dogs around. The interview seemed to go really well and she told me I was essentially hired, that I just needed to take the drug test as a formality and she was ready to have me as an employee. I got the papers for the drug test and went and took it that day, and once I was at the lab I remembered that I take medication for my ADHD that shows up on some drug tests as trace amounts of amphetamines or cocaine or some form of stimulant, and I hadn't said that to the woman who interviewed me, so I asked the lab technician if he could indicate on my sample or whatever that I had my prescription pills in my system but he said that he wasn't allowed to mark anything. I figured I would wait until PetSmart called me back to explain, but they never did which in hindsight makes sense because they must have assumed that I used drugs and didn't want to call me to tell me "you didn't get the job".
