Worst interview experience I’ve had.
The interview felt more like an attempt to discredit my experience rather than understand it. I understand I have areas to improve and I have taken a career break, but the panel seemed focused on challenging everything I shared instead of having a constructive discussion.
I fully accept that I may not have been the perfect candidate for the role, and I may not have been the right fit for the company’s culture. That is completely understandable. However, regardless of the outcome, I believe candidates should still be treated with professionalism, respect, and courtesy throughout the interview process.
One thing that left a bad impression was that one of the interviewers did not turn on their camera during the virtual interview. Personally, I found this unprofessional and discourteous.
The overall tone of the interview felt unnecessarily dismissive at times, which made the experience uncomfortable and discouraging. A candidate can be assessed rigorously without being made to feel undervalued.
The role also appeared to come with very high expectations, where a Manager is expected to handle almost everything. However, the compensation discussed did not seem to match the level of responsibility expected. Based on my experience, the salary offered for this Manager position was comparable to what I earned in a Senior-level role elsewhere, despite the significantly broader scope of responsibilities and expectations.
I left the interview feeling discouraged and undervalued. Overall, this was the worst interview experience I have had.
