The interview process was very enjoyable and a great experience overall. An engineering lead reached out to me, and we had a great conversation on the phone to discuss the role and answer any questions I had about the company. They also shared some details about the tools they are using, the current challenges they are facing, and the overall roadmap they are working on. After that, I completed a take-home assignment, which included a code review of an isolated piece of their code as well as a system design task. I presented my results to the engineering lead and some members of his team. Everyone asked great questions, and it always felt like a conversation rather than an interrogation. The next round was a coding interview over the phone, again with multiple engineers on the other side. The task was a simplified version of a data engineering challenge they had recently faced. Part of the task was not very clearly defined, but they gave great guidance for this part. The last round was a set of on-site interviews at Photoroom's beautiful Paris office. These were all about culture fit, with many behavioral questions. I got to talk to people from several different teams and departments, including the Photoroom founders. This was hands down the best interview process I have ever taken part in.
