Very friendly process. I had practically no finance experience and Piper was my first finance interview of the banking recruiting process. I learned a lot in their process, actually, since each interviewer asked similar questions to his or her predecessor. The advantage was that if I screwed up in one interview, I would know the right answer in the next. They're completely okay with you making mistakes so long as you're open to learning. Personality mattered a ton -- I really, really liked those folks.

One of my interviewers was a former economics PhD student, and we went way into the theory behind the risk free rate
First round with 2 people, mix of technical and behavioral. One and one-half Superday 2 on 1 with associate to MD. Mix of behavioral and technical as well. Fairly structured.

*First Round*
The process was very easy. About 10 minutes of personal questions (Why IB, Why Industrials, Walk me through your resume, etc), then followed by some technical (3 statements & how they interact, walk me through DCF). It didn't appear that the interviewer expected much technical knowledge but after speaking with another employee, technical are a big deal here. Overall, very good experience with the interview.

Good interview process; good people. Eight total rounds with some technical questions throughout, but mostly leaned behavioral questions. It was great to learn about their experiences and learn more about the investment banking industry.
