      Colloquio

      • Sep. 26 - I applied through Indeed. A few moments later, I received an Indeed request to complete the application through the company job portal. • Sep. 28 - I received an email from a Polygon representative confirming that I met the qualifications and wanted to know if I was available for a phone screen/interview. We set the phone interview for the end of the week on Sep. 30 but moved it to the following Monday, Oct. 3. • Oct. 3- I completed the phone screen. It didn't feel too much like an interview; she was super casual, conversational, and nice. She asked why I wanted to leave my current job but did not ask any behavioral questions. She went on to describe the role, the benefits, the compensation, etc. and confirmed my interest in the role. • Oct. 4 - Early in the morning, I received a thank-you email for the phone interview. She told me she would be in touch about the next steps. Later in the day, I received a request for an in-person interview with the Accounting Manager (AKA the hiring manager). We set it up for later in the week on Oct. 6th. • Oct. 6 - I interviewed with the Accounting Manager. The interview felt very relaxed and conversational; the manager was out-going, personable, and kind. She told me more about the company, the culture, and what their branch in the US does vs. the European branch. She described the recently restructured role, her management style, and her expectations for someone on her team. She asked me to talk about myself and asked why I wanted to leave my current job. She did not ask behavioral questions. Since it was conversational, I spoke about previous job responsibilities and how my experience resonated with the new role. The interview went extremely well. • Oct. 10 - I received an email from Polygon's People Operations Business Partner telling me that the hiring manager was impressed and wanted to move forward with the next steps of the application process, which was a Microsoft Team meeting with the Accounting Controller. We set it for a couple days later on Oct. 12. • Oct. 12 - I interviewed with the Accounting Controller, and the interview was again very casual and relaxed. He was polite and informative. We discussed the role, and he provided examples of what I could expect in the position. He talked more about the company, described how the role requires high confidentiality, and discussed possible opportunities I would have within the company. He asked me why I was leaving my job. He then asked me a situational question pertaining to the job. At the end of the interview, I asked him what the next steps would be, and he let me know he would speak with the hiring manager and exchange notes. He told me I would hear back from them by the end of the week. • Oct. 13 - Early in the morning, Polygon's People Operations Business Partner sent over an offer letter and benefits to review. I didn't have to negotiate the salary since they offered me the position's maximum salary. I accepted the role, and a few hours later, they sent over all the onboarding documents. They just finished the credit and background check. Apparently, this specific position does not require a drug screen. I will be starting in a few weeks! :)
