Ho presentato la mia candidatura tramite segnalazione di un dipendente. La procedura ha richiesto 2 mesi. Ho sostenuto un colloquio presso PrizePicks nel mese di gen 2025

      Colloquio

One of the silliest interviews comes to a close. Not surprised given how they interview candidates. After getting through a HR screening, I was given a Coderbyte assessment which takes 3-4 hours. So before you even talk to a technical person, they make you jump through a 3-4 hours of multiple take-home projects. Yes. Multiple. Tic-tac-toe, Todo list and two other small-ish reach apps that take an hour. After that, you're given 15 questions on TypeScript which amount to basically "Here is some code. What does it output?" And it's a tricky one. They have other tricky questions as well with similar-looking questions. It's obvious that this screening is nothing depending on what a Senior Software Engineer would do or write. I got rejected because they assume I probably cheated. I took photos of the code during questionnaire. I'm not a robot. I'm not going to read 40-50 lines of code and get tripped up in my head. And it's that's not the worst, during the multiple take-home projects on Coderbyte, I will say that Coderbyte was one of the worst web coding environments I've ever been on. The associated code editor was not formatting and indenting properly so it made everything just downright not fun and not indicative of real coding environment. But the worst? We weren't allowed to use TypeScript. It would give a compile error. So, we're applying for a TypeScript role and the take homes have to be in JavaScript? So bundle that with an indented mess of a file, no TypeScript, no live-editing. And if you get past that assessment, you will have an 1hr 30m live coding session 4 people. Because we will know how nice is it to be stared at by 3 Senior Engineers and an Engineering Manager to make you feel comfortable. All in all, the technical screening was not indicative of real coding environment and the fact that PrizePicks thinks this is the best way to assess a candidate on a terrible platform makes me feel sad for the leadership who think this is okay.
