La procedura ha richiesto 3 settimane. Ho sostenuto un colloquio presso Procore Technologies (Los Angeles, CA) nel mese di set 2022

      Colloquio

This process was absolute shambles. This was over 3 weeks total. My first contact was a 5 minute phone call only telling me about the wonderful benefits and pay. Nothing about the job itself. Had a zoom interview scheduled did my due diligence on research and prep only to get told the day of the interview that the job no longer exists. What a complete waste of time and energy.

Ho presentato la mia candidatura tramite un selezionatore. La procedura ha richiesto 2 settimane. Ho sostenuto un colloquio presso Procore Technologies (Santa Barbara, CA) nel mese di mar 2018

      Colloquio

I went through four separate phone screens. After succeeding through those I was asked to come on site for an interview. After a two hour drive to get to their very nice campus I was given a tour. We then headed in for the first round of interviews. I met someone from their QA team for a cultural interview. She seemed a little Jr. and came to the interview with a notepad with questions to ask. We went through them one by one. I left that segment feeling great about how I did. I was taken to another conference room where I was paired up with an engineer whom this was their first job, and potentially their first interview. They asked me a super obscure algorithm question. It appeared to me, they weren't even comfortable with the question and was just something they pulled down from the internet a couple minutes before. After having him repeat what he was wanting from me multiple times. I asked him how he would solve it. He struggled with the answer. I knew he would, because he struggled asking the question. I asked him if this was a problem he solved regularly, he laughed and said no. He then asked me an actual coding problem which I solved in minutes. I was then led to the cafeteria for lunch with multiple engineers. We all got along and thought we all got on well enough. After of which I had a meeting with two sr engineers. We spoke for over an hour and things felt great. I was super excited about the opportunity at the end of it. The last part was a meeting with a VP. We spoke high level about what I was looking for in a work environment. Again I thought we got along great. I expressed my enthusiasm for the role. At the end of the interview, another recruiter walked me out. Taking me to that same vista point overlooking the ocean. Which is very nice. She asked me how things went. Which I replied 'great'. They seemed very pleased since this was such a niche role which is very difficult to fill. The next day I receive a templated 'no-reply' denial email without explanation. The external recruiter relayed to me that I nailed the technical aspect of the interview, however they really really didn't think I would be a cultural fit. Which is the first time that has happened me. They couldn't be more specific on what that was, or what I said that put them so off not to even give me a chance. I was saddened. And super sad, because they desperately need the help and extra hands. I think maybe something I wore that day put them off? Not hiring someone due to subjective feelings is unfortunate and I think they truly missed out. My advice for their interview process going forward would be: 1) When hiring for a Sr role, especially someone with 15yrs experience. Don't pit a Jr (first job) and ask them to interview someone with that experience. Also, don't ask question you yourself don't know the answer. In truth, I almost walked out of the interview. I honestly though at this phase of the interview I was wasting my time. 2) Companies should think about whether an individual is a cultural fit because it ends up being a group of the same type of people, rather it should be around will they bring cultural diversity to further develop and foster and imporoving cultural environment. After all, we were all cordule and got along. Sometimes being a professional is knowing how to get along with people you would otherwise not hang out with out of the office, but because someone is great at what they do. It's very limiting and I hope the best that they find the "right" candidate that checks off all the boxes they require.
