Several months prior to this experience I had applied to be a Claims Adjuster Trainee for Progressive. Initially I took the skills assessment test and passed but did not make it past the phone interview.
This time, they already had my skills test on file so I did not have to retake that for the Inbound Sales Call Center position. I applied for Inbound Sales position on 5/24 and received an email the same day notifying me that they were reviewing my application. On 5/31 I received an email stating that they would be moving me to a phone interview and I scheduled it for 6/7. I was pretty nervous for the phone interview because the last time I had it I thought I did well but didn't show as much action and steps I took in my STAR answers as they were looking for. I really took the time to study this go-round which helped me immensely although I was nervous. After the phone interview, which consisted of three STAR-based questions, I thought I might not have passed because the recruiter didn't actually tell me that I would be moving forward with the process but that I would find out in a few days. The following morning 6/8 I received an email to fill out the information for the background check. I also received a phone call from a different person at Progressive asking me to schedule a date for a F2F interview. On 6/11 I had the F2F interview with one manager which consisted of her showing me around the facility and then roughly a 50 minute conversation which involved probably ten STAR based questions similar to the phone interview. You need to prepare for this and study different scenarios or I could see this being super tough. They definitely want you to follow the format and have that down pat to show you can follow directions and be punctual with your responses. The manager was very nice and I felt we had a great conversation. I left the interview feeling confident. She told me I would hear back within the next few days regarding the next steps in the process. On the HireRight website (the background check company) it stated on 6/13 that my background check was complete and sent to Progressive. On 6/14 I received and email saying that the F2F interview went well and they would be reaching out to me within 2 weeks once my background check was complete. The mentally draining part comes next. Since my background check showed completed on 6/13 I figured I would hear back within a few days with either an offer or rejection but I didn't hear anything until 6/25. On 6/25 I missed a call from the recruiter and the voicemail stated to call her back. I did call back a few times throughout the day but didn't get a reply that day. I was freaking out but luckily the following day 6/26 I received a phone call with an offer/offer letter email following and based on my skills in the interview they placed me in the sales dept.
Overall it was a good experience I just feel they were hiring a lot of people at the time so it probably was just protocol for the process to be a bit drawn out towards the end. I'm happy it ended with an offer and the training classes start a month from the hire date.

8 prerecorded behavioral questions, 2 attempts to record 3 min answers which must be delivered in STAR format. Wish I had a few days to prep, I would have done much better. I was invited to the next round of interviews, so I guess it was alright. There are some helpful YouTube videos about preparing in advance for behavioral style questions and the STAR format. I suggest taking time out to study those a few days before hand.
