I applied through technical.ly then received an email to schedule an online interview. I had a great conversation with Dawn who took the time to talk to me about the company and the position. It was mostly a conversation with some behavioral questions.
What excited me the the most about this interview was the prospect of a take home assignment. PromptWorks assigns candidates a take home project to prepare then present in their office. That has to be by far the most mature, genuine, and fair form of candidate selection! It seemed like a breath of fresh air in a world where job candidates have to perform the rehearsed dance of "tell me your greatest weakness" then you have to sit there and regurgitate some pompous answer that shows that you know whatever is the latest trend of interviewing.
I unfortunately wasn't selected to move on to the assignment phase, so I can't really speak to how that goes, but I think that the guys at PromptWorks are on to something. More companies should follow their example and give candidates a chance to show their abilities and thought process in a project assignment. It seems like the earnest thing to do.
