Ho presentato la mia candidatura online. La procedura ha richiesto un giorno. Ho sostenuto un colloquio presso PureRange (Coquitlam, BC) nel mese di gen 2019
Colloquio
The interview was truly a waste of time. The job ad they posted for this position was paying only $36,000 a year and they didn’t list any required work experience, but when I got to the interview they guy who interviewed me ridiculed the fact that I was applying for their job having just graduated from my program! I submitted my resume. It was clear I had no prior we development experience. He called me the next day only to explain for 45 min how he would never hire someone like me. WHY DID YOU EVEN BOTHER TO CALL ME FOR AN INTERVIEW!?
He then explains that the previous person who helped him out was also a new grad and because of that he didn’t want to take his chances. He then dragged me over to a computer to show me the site and why he thinks I had zero knowledge about it. Despite explaining that I had experience with WordPress and building a site from scratch using HTML/jQuery/JavaScript and even pointing out the fact that I launched it through AWS and the site link was on my resume, he belittled for the fact that it was just a portfolio site and not one for a previous client. What really bothered me is that the whole time he walked me through the website he kept saying “can you even do this?” as if I was a moron.
Overall, I get he was bitter about the previous kid who screwed him over, but why was I held accountable for someone else’s mistakes? If you have a problem with my lack of experience move on and don’t call me rather than making me do the commute and degrading me when I get there. The fact that he intentionally called me in for an interview just to attack my confidence as a beginner shows the quality in management and I don’t think I would actually have felt it was a safe workspace in the long run.
If you want someone experienced here’s a little advice. Fork over more money for one and change your job description and job title. No senior developer would find $36000 a year as “competitive”.
