Colloquio
I initially chatted with the recruiter who was really knowledgeable on Machine Learning which was pleasantly surprising. Then I had two phone screens. The first phone screen consisted of discussion on my research, and internship projects. Then I was given a typical consumer scenario in marketing and asked to describe how I would solve the problem from end to end. The second phone screen was more statistical and machine learning based, including a question on probability and on how I would improving a popular clustering algorithm.
The next stage was a onsite interview where I met with 3 engineers, 1 data scientist, and finally the co-founder. All of the interviewers were super friendly. The first 2 engineers gave me coding problems to solve on a whiteboard. The questions were more or less at the standard of the top tech companies. The next engineer asked me both Machine Learning questions as well as coding questions. After lunch with the recruiter, I met with a Data Scientist who asked me about my research and also asked me statistical questions (which I stumbled on).
All in all, I was very impressed with the company and the quality of people working there. Most of the Data Scientists were PhDs and all were extremely knowledgeable.
HM Screening. 45 mins ended up going for 1 hour. Asked about past experiences. very specific about dataset, features used. You get the sense that HM is trying to find the right alignment and talent. I took it more of a conversation based and less of a he asked you answered type of interview.

I was initially contacted by a recruiter for a phone screen. Once I passed the phone screen, I was scheduled for a technical interview with a person leading the data science team. During the interview, she made very rude and narcissistic comments as if she wants to prove that she is a lot smarter than me and I was thinking I never want to work with her. This interview was by far the worst experience I have ever had.
