Colloquio
Received an email asking if I was interested in a real estate position with them. I was curious what they offered so I agreed. Had two phone interviews and 4 face-to-face (in person and via Zoom).
The face to face interviews were not great - they didn’t give correct info on where to go and who I was meeting with. It came across as very unorganized. Also, two of those people said they didn’t know why they were interviewing me and that the appointments were “just put on the calendar.” Wow. They didn’t even know what role I was interviewing for.
What I learned after these conversations is summed up simply: they interview to complete a checklist and it doesn’t matter who you are, what your background is, etc. They put “x” amount of employees in front of you and ask those employees if you should be hired.
Reflect on that for a bit...the people deciding if you work there don’t have interviewing training or anything - your position can be approved or rejected based on opinions that have no relevance or understanding of your talents, etc. Not one of the four I met with were even in the same department as the job I was there for.
That says something about the company’s culture and whether they value employees, quality work, etc. I also learned that most of the people I would be working with (in the actual real estate side) did not have real estate experience. This told me the last thing I needed to know - the consumer is not the priority.
Having a license does not equate to experience, and they do not offer real training (sales training does not encompass real estate training).
Very friendly recruiter, fast timeline from first call to offer, started right away. Seems like they're hiring a lot these days because of turnover. I have no other comments but there's a 30 word minimum.
