when i applied, recruiter sent me some questions for preliminary screening, then I had total 3 interviews. 1st with recruiter, 2nd with two sr. QA leads, and 3rd with QA Manager. Interview process was really fast. All interviews went well, but after last interview they told me they don't get an budget approval for the position.

We a small enough company that when we do have some openings for a particular role, we can reach out to the candidates that previously interviewed for the role. It was a very straight-forward and efficient process. Perhaps one of the best interview experiences I've had. The time between my initial contact and date of offer was about 1 month.
It was a 3-step process for me:
1) Phone screen
2) 1:1 with Principal QA
3) 2 Principal QA's and then 1:1 with the hiring manager
I thought the whole process was smooth and my recruiter was very helpful, responsive, and kept me in the loop throughout the whole process.
My suggestions for future interviews for this role:
- bring in some newer QA's as well, maybe even a dev too so you can test the candidates ability to effectively communicate their ideas as a healthy QA and dev. relationship is vital for the candidate's prospective success
- in maybe the second or third round interview, make the process a little more engaging, perhaps letting the candidate run through the company's software to gauge how they go about learning about different features & testing it
- to add to the second point, maybe do a few actual live SQL checks as well by having the candidate run through a few basic examples to verify their SQL knowledge
