I applied through LinkedIn, and a recruiter responded about a week later. They expressed that the felt I was overqualified for the role, but the CEO/founder wanted to speak with me because they were interested in possibly expanding the role to suit my skillset.
The recruiter set up a time for the CEO/founder and I to speak a few days later. Our call went well, and he expressed a desire to speak again in a few days to discuss expanding the role I applied to, and how I could help build the brand. The CEO told me the recruiter would reach out to schedule a time to chat.
That never happened.
I reached out several times to the recruiter and was almost completely ghosted. The only response I got from the recruiter was weeks later asking me when the CEO and I last spoke, and that he would “ping him” on next steps.
They did not reject me for the role I applied to, or tell me the “expanded” role was no longer on the table. After the CEO asked to speak with me again “in a week or so” the recruiter never scheduled anything.
I’ve emailed the recruiter several times and received no response.
While I appreciate Ranker considered me a candidate worth an expanded role, I don’t appreciate being completely ghosted.
