I recently interviewed for an internship position and left the process feeling quite disappointed by the overall experience. The role was advertised as an internship for candidates with an interest in the industry, yet during the interview I was assessed on technical SEO and GEO concepts that were not mentioned as requirements in the job description. As someone early in their career, I expected an internship to be a space to learn and develop these kinds of technical skills rather than already be expected to have detailed knowledge of them. There were also aspects of the interview process that felt disorganised. For example, I was asked to create the Google Meet link for the interview myself, which felt unusual and somewhat unprofessional for a formal recruitment process. In addition, the overall timeline from application to rejection took over a month. For an internship role, this felt unnecessarily long and made the process feel inefficient. Overall, the experience left me disappointed, as the expectations during the interview did not feel aligned with how the role had originally been presented. Unfortunately, the process has also put me off applying to the company again in the future. Greater clarity around required knowledge and a more structured interview process would make the experience fairer for future applicants.
