Just to clarify, our initial phone screen for data roles does include a few very basic analysis questions. They’re designed to confirm that candidates are comfortable with the core skills needed for the position before moving further into the process. This is especially important when screening candidates for roles with less workplace experience requried, as it gives us an opportunity to gauge skills before moving candidates on to meet with the hiring manager.
We certainly don’t want anyone to feel caught off guard, but at the same time, we’d expect qualified candidates to be able to handle those questions without difficulty or the need for any preparation prior to the call. That said, your note is a good reminder for us to be clearer upfront about what’s included in each interview stage. Wishing you all the best in your search!
