I went through a total of 3 months's rotation program. I stayed at 3 different labs during the time. The professor or owner of different labs talked with me and asked me my interest/expectations for academia.
Applied during school year. Talked with professor and PhD student about my goals. Answers questions regarding prior research experience. The interview was conversational and friendly. The interview process occurred quickly and I heard back for the position soon afterwards.

Self introduction first, and then describe research experience and answer questions . It was only a ten minutes interview, so very short and straight forward. You should also expect to have a opportunity to ask their questions.
