      Colloquio

Applied online and received a phone call the next day to schedule a phone screening. A couple days later after the phone screen, I received an email that I was moving to the next stage. I was scheduled to have a phone interview with someone from the department I was interviewing for. During the phone interview, he only asked one question - why do I want to work for Ring. Then he asked if I had any questions. The vibe was really weird because I guess I was expecting more questions. But this call lasted less than 15 mins. And it only lasted this long because I asked about 10 different questions. I asked about the culture, what to expect as a new employee, work from home options etc. He told me that he would pass my info on to the hiring team and if they would like to meet with me, they will schedule an in-person interview. A few days later, I received an email congratulating me that I made it to the final round - which is a four hour in person interview on site. After scheduling a date and time, I was sent the information on who I would interview with. The day of the interview, someone from HR who was supposed to greet me arrived to work late. She came in apologizing, which was fine. She took me to a room and told me that she had to set up the video conferencing system for one of my interviews. I was shocked to hear that one of the interviews would be via video chat as I wasn't aware of this. HR didn't even know the person I was interviewing with via video which made it a little awkward. She said the interviewer worked at another site out of state. After the video interview, I was given a quick tour by HR and then we walked back to the room where I met my 2nd interviewer. Typical behavioral questions, "Tell me about a time....". After our interview, we chit chatted about random stuff and he was like hey, you want to take a tour of the building? So we walked around and he gave me a more in depth tour explaining the different areas of the building, the teams, the break room, the training rooms, etc. We walked back to the interview room where the 3rd person is now waiting to interview me. His demeanor wasn't too inviting which set the tone for our interview. He asked the similar "tell me about a time" questions which I felt my responses were now being repetitive since I heard the questions already. After our interview, he asked if I had any questions. I asked about 5-7 questions then he asked if I had anymore because if so, I need to ask them now because he would know all the answers. I kind of felt pressured to come up with something on the spot. I didn't like that. After our meeting, the last interviewer came in. Very friendly, inviting, joked a few times, and was very personable. He definitely helped calm my nerves. Afterwards, he gave me another brief tour as we walked out. He explained some of the challenges the company is experiencing and how they are looking to overcome those obstacles. We proceeded to the exit where he wished me luck and said I should hear something within the next week. I received a phone call a week later and I could hear from the tone in her voice that it wasn't good news. She told me they went with another candidate and if I find any other roles that interest me, I can let her know since I have her contact info. I asked if they provided any specific feedback on my interview and she said no, they didn't. Overall, it was an okay experience. Just stressful that you are onsite for four hours. Plus the questions being asked are pretty similar to the previous questions asked from the other interviewer. Have multiple examples prepared. I would just say make sure you tailor your responses to match Amazon's Leadership Principles. And they use the STAR method during the interview.
