      Colloquio

I was approached by a recruiter for this position that paid low for Amazon. Nonetheless, I agreed and went through the process. I am a senior-level writer with extensive experience in both copywriting and copy editing. The post was falsely advertised for a copywriter position. However, they wanted someone who was a copy editor. That is not how the job was written up. So, upon interview, I discovered they wanted someone who could work without an editor, which I've done before, and yet I've also worked with editors. I explained that any senior writer, no matter how much experience, should have another set of eyes on their copy. It's always wise to have a better process where someone is doing quality assurance on your work. Firstly, one of the folks interviewing me had shockingly only been there two months. Secondly, I nailed two interviews and did great. Yet I found out later that they seemed to penalize me for wanting a structured process. Errors happen all of the time when you try to hire copywriters to do their own editing. I always turn in clean copy, but any magazine, newspaper, or anyone who truly gets content writing understands the importance of copy editors in addition to copywriters. It's important to have someone overseeing everything and double-checking all content before it gets published online or wherever. Because of my unfavorable (realistic) answer, they passed on my senior-level experience and hired a junior-level person. Also, the position was falsely advertised as an "educational copywriter.” Instead, the actual job was for a very dry technical FAQ help center writer that leaned more toward being nothing more than a glorified customer service specialist. I'm very glad I had this experience. It made me realize that big tech companies still have disorganized, ineffective processes that can lead to more errors and problematic issues, potentially hurting product sales. I got the feeling during the interview that no one knew what they were doing. The individual that was only there for a couple of months already wanted to bounce to another position. Very strange. It doesn't vouch for loyalty and doesn't help the person interviewing to see someone already wanting to move on within the company to do something else. It told me that the job role would be tedious technical writing akin to watching paint dry.

      Domanda 1

Do you like working with editors. (This was a trick question because they wanted someone to be their own editor.)
