I got in touch with Riot within the week I applied for the job and got a first screening interview 2 to 3 weeks later. I passed 3 interviews with no offer. The interviews were more focused on my knowledge of the company and its business model rather than my experience or past/current job but that is probably because I am in Finance.
Overall, it was a pretty tough process, and I believe I was not prepared enough. They really are picky and want open-minded people who are ready to think out of the box, which I failed to show. They also want people who can effectively solve problems and understand the industry.
Nevertheless, I think it was a good experience as the people I've met were really warm and welcoming.
Advices for people getting interviewed/applying: do a lot of research on the company beforehand, do not hesitate to take the necessary time to do so because you will not get hired before at least 2 months of recruitment process anyway. Also do not even think about lying, they will usually ask a lot for any fact you raise, which may screw you up eventually if you have nothing much to say about it. Playing League can help a lot in understanding the game's model and the community, but it may not be compulsory.

I would suggest to avoid this company at all costs. It may seem enticing initially, I mean, working in a gaming company sounds amazing. But this company has the most one-sided, unfair and unprofessional interviewing process. Firstly, the TA team is poor at organisation and time scheduling. You'll put in your availability first but end up getting an email from them saying these slots are occupied and they'll ask you to re-enter your availability. In my head I was like, gosh why can't they just give me the time and date instead of asking me? Secondly, the lack of updates. They'll make you wait 3 weeks until you hear something from them. Oh, and they'll also change the title and job scope in the meantime, saying that they just had a "re-org". Thirdly, the craft interview was terribly constructed. In my job, it's hard to just give an answer to a finance question in a snap of fingers. You NEED time to think and do some calculations and analysis. I was surprised that the interviewer was impatient and unwilling to elaborate his question. Why are software engineers given some time to take the assessment home but not finance? Ridiculous. Not forgetting that there are a total of 8 interview rounds. Be warned.

- Multi-stage interviews in person or by Skype with several screening interviews (say 3-5 separate occasions) then a panel interview over an afternoon lasting between 4-6 hours followed by a further possible screening interview and a final 'sponsor' interview.
