      Candidatura

Ho presentato la mia candidatura tramite segnalazione di un dipendente. La procedura ha richiesto 7 mesi. Ho sostenuto un colloquio presso Riot Games (Santa Monica, CA) nel mese di ago 2014

      Colloquio

Recruited by an employee within the PR team. I was asked to complete a written test and an hour long phone screen with that employee. This was the best part of the experience- the recruiter gave me plenty of feedback on my interview, made sure I knew he was respecting the time I put into the written test, and spent the final 5 minutes giving me words of encouragement to help me through the rest of the process. Communication here was exceptional. At this point, I was asked to apply through the website and went through two more Skype interviews with managers in the department. Due to busy schedules and team members flying through multiple time zones, this took a few weeks, but everyone involved was incredibly apologetic and communicative. The first interview felt like a conversation about the day to day workplace, asking my opinion on internal initiatives and the structure of the expanding company. The second interview was more about me- how I thought about the games I liked, what would my ideal position inside the company be, etc. In brief: Phone screen: Hardest interview. Rigorous questions about how I would solve specific problems the company had dealt with internally in the past, and my answers were compared against the past solutions. That said, it was exciting and challenging- I ran out prepared materials immediately and was problem solving on the fly from minute 5 on. Interview 1: More relaxed, bouncing ideas back and forth about certain initiatives, asked for my opinion on certain public relation topics. Interview 2: Less structured than the first two, probing questions about myself (presumably for company fit). It didn't feel like there were any "correct" answers, compared to the first two, so I just focused on answering honestly. After the interview, I was told there would be a three month wait before I could be brought out for an onsite interview. The structure of the company is interesting and complicated, but basically they didn't want to add more entry level employees without hiring the additional managers that would guide them through the company. Three months later, when they'd constructed additional managers, I was contacted by the manager from Interview 1. He said they were spooling up the newly hired manager and I should hear from one of them within the next couple of weeks. I asked if I should send an updated resume, he said I should send it to him if there were any changes in my work history since then. That was the last correspondence I received from Riot. I had to withdraw from the application process a few months later for unrelated reasons, so the timeline goes something like this: Written Test 7/2014 --> Response to Test 7/2014 <--- Phone Screen 8/2014 <--> Interview 1 9/2014 <--> Interview 2 10/2014 <--> Hiatus Explanation 12/2014 <--> Managerial Update 3/2015 <--> Withdrawal of application 9/2015 --> I never received an update on my situation, but I also never asked for an update. And I never received a confirmation of my withdrawal, although I never requested a confirmation of email received. Overall, it was a unique and long experience. The impetus seems to be on the candidate to ask for progress updates, which can be unnerving. That said, every jot of correspondence and personal interaction was lively and personable- it was just outnumbered by the silences.
