Worst interview experience. I was contacted by a Rivian recruiter on April 2023 for a Financial Analyst position on their new product development team through Linkedin inmail. I was then scheduled for a phone screen which was the normal questions/discussions but the recruiter was about 6 minutes late to a 30 minute call. I then passed onto the interviewing manager and oh man what a weird interview it was. Firstly, they sent me a very large and very aggressive NDA to sign that stated not to discuss anything proprietary from my current employer. Next interviewer showed up 6 minutes late to a 30 minute timeslot. He did not have a copy of my resume, and he was in a conference room at the very back chair with a camera at the front of the room. Super awkward setup for a one-on-one interview. I could barely see the guy let alone read his expressions. My voice was also being broadcast on the conference phone so it was not private and not adhering to their own NDA. His first question was the norm tell me about yourself. He then followed up by asking about my current projects at work. This is where it got weird because they made me sign an NDA to not discuss these things during the interview. My first thought was is this a trick question? I asked some basic questions about the job and what exactly a finance analyst would do for new product development. His answers told me very little about the job or the duties. I then asked if he could clarify the day-to-day what does that look like? He also did not have a satisfactory answer for that. I struggled to understand what technical skills were used and how the analysis they provide ties into the bigger picture. No mention of software suite being utilized either. Interviewer then proceeded to ask me about what kind of car I drive and if I bought my car new or used? Seemed like he was more determined to learn about my personal life than any of my technical accomplishments or skillset to do the job. Then I was ghosted for 2 weeks before finally getting a generic response from the recruiter.
