      Candidatura

Ho presentato la mia candidatura online. La procedura ha richiesto 2 settimane. Ho sostenuto un colloquio presso SGS (Denver, CO) nel mese di mar 2014

      Colloquio

I applied online via a job board and received an initial screening call from the recruiter within a week of my application. Pretty standard initial phone screening, lasted maybe 15 minutes and consisted of "tell me about yourself" style questions. Nothing technical at all. The next day the recruiter called back to schedule an in-person interview for the following week. The interview was conducted by 2 individuals who had flown in from Ohio and Texas. First interview lasted a little over 60 minutes. They asked me to go through my resume in reverse chronological order and asked clarifying questions as I explained each position I had been in, such as "so in position x you worked with _________, what was the most difficult challenge you faced with that technology?" At the end of the resume review they had a few pages of high level technical questions they ran me through, and by high level I mean "what would be the first thing you would do to a machine with a virus?" Based on my answer, they drilled a little further down - so if you mention an acronym or a piece of underlying tech make sure you know what you're talking about. After the technical questions they took me around the facility, pretty standard stuff. I was called later that evening to return the next day in order to see a second facility that the position was going to support. I got a quick dime tour of the IDF/MDF areas, etc. It felt less like an interview and more like a meet and greet. On my way home from that, I got a call from the recruiter extending a verbal offer of employment, and the rest is history. Overall it was a fairly quick, straight forward hiring process that took around 2 weeks total.

      Domande di colloquio [1]

      Domanda 1

Most of the questions were open-ended and were followed up with more technical questions based on the answer. For instance, they would first ask "what would you do if an entire site couldn't access the internet, but their email was coming through just fine?" and based on the answer, they would ask follow up questions. So if for instance you mentioned telnet into an appliance to do some ACL checks, they would follow up with "alright, so what port would you use to telnet into the appliance? What IOS commands would you use to check the ACLs?"
