I applied via sending an email to a researcher looking for summer intern. I attached my resume with selected publications, and briefly explained what research projects I have done in the past. 2 weeks later, I received a phone interview offer. I had two separate phone interviews from the researchers and the group head. After the phone interviews, I got the final offer few days later.
