Phone interview with Beth was short and sweet! She asked a few general questions to see if this position was what I was looking for. She scheduled a date/time to meet with the property manager for an on site interview.

Colloquio
Interviewed with the first representative of Sandalwood Management, followed by an interview with a woman in the corporate office. During the interview with the first representative (hereafter known as Ms. X), a dollar figure was provided as to what I should expect regarding pay. During the interview with the woman at the corporate office, I was asked what type of pay I was looking for, I provided a figure slightly larger than the one the Ms. X gave me.
Later that day I received an offer letter for LESS than the amount I had originally been told to expect. I immediately attempted to enter salary negotiations with Ms. X, yet beyond the initial round of communication I heard nothing back. I then attempted to call Ms. X two days later and left a message. I emailed Ms. X the next day, still no response. I tried to call back again on the following day and left another message, still no response.
It was at this point in time that I called the woman I'd met with at the corporate office and discussed the situation with her re: salary negotiation and non-communication from Ms. X. I was flabbergasted when the woman from the corporate office outright lied to me, and told me the amount I had asked to be paid was the same as the offer letter I had received. Very politely, I tried to explain that is not what I had asked for, yet she insisted.
I'm guessing the corporate office woman then called Ms. X, because about fifteen minutes after my conversation I received an email from Ms. X retracting my job offer due to my asking for too much money. Note: I had asked for a whopping $4k more annually and would've taken $2k (which for the record would have been the same amount Ms. X had provided during the first interview). I've never had a company behave so unprofessionally during an attempted salary negotiation, nor have I ever had to wait a week before I even received any type of response.
One other thing of note, not once did anyone from Sandalwood Management ever call to check any of my references. I find that strange in and of itself.

The most difficult question wasn't very difficult at all, I was asked what my weaknesses were.
