Initial communication was via email and then phone. I interviewed with the head of design, head of product development, and then was called back in for an interview with the CEO. I only showed my portfolio to the head of design. I was told that I would be doing some product development as well, and it turned out that I was doing much of the PD and not enough of the design, even though I did not have the training for PD.
