initially applied for Senior DevOps role but got recommended to apply for Senior Data role instead. Was told it was a largely management role, they lacked candidates and assured relative inexperience will be tolerated as knowledge transfer and learning on the job allowed. It turned out the hiring manager did not convey the agreement to the interviewers and they checked me on every detailed and low-level working knowledge. The interviewers were also junior and made some textbook mistakes on some answers they gave. Time wasted on both sides.
