      Colloquio

The guy seemed nice enough initially, but then it became readily apparent that there was a certain level of arrogance about him that really turned me off. I spoke with a friend about my reservations, and it turned out she knew the guy and he had made a very poor impression on her, and then a separate acquaintance chimed in, saying he also had a very negative experience. I then respectfully declined the invitation to the second interview, only to be contacted back right away with a pretty good offer, much higher than he had suggested in the first interview. I requested a few days to think about it (this was Friday afternoon at 4 pm), as I had another job offer on the table. When I called Monday to give my response, he informed me they had hired someone else. It left me with a sneaking suspicion that he is the kind of guy who can't handle being turned down, and he clearly has little respect for employees. All's well that ends well, but it might have been a bad situation if I had turned down a lucrative job offer to work for him, only to have the offer (which I had on paper, even) ripped out from under my feet. I can only assume the level of respect for the actual employees!
