I was contacted by the president himself regarding a position relevant to my degreed field, for which I had not been in for years (went a different path). I prefaced my response “with my absence from the field” and before I could continue I was rudely interrupted with “ah, gotcha, Well…..” An attempt to just end it there I suppose. I asked while I had him on the phone about another position that I had just applied for a couple weeks ago with his company. A position for which I met all the education and required experience, and also much more relevant to my past 8-10 years of professional work experience. He seemed bothered as he continued to interrupt and respond with “ah,…..gotcha” numerous times. I said while the job you inquired about is not a fit as I have not utilized that specific skill set in quite some time, my current field is a great fit for the job for which I just applied. He quickly responded “ohhhh, you don’t meet those requirements for that job at all.” But I met the requirements for a job for which I have no current experience and also required 5-7 years of experience. Clueless is an understatement. You will need a drink if you talk to this guy, because he has absolutely no interest in what YOU want, only his objective. The poster example of recruitment that has no idea how to discern ones resume and accommodate the candidates wishes based on their current experience and education. After getting off the phone with this winner I really don’t know what is worse, dealing with people like this or listening to a used car dealer drone on about why they can’t accept your offer because “they have too much in it.” They’re both just full of BS!!!! DO NOT waste your time with these people!
