Ho presentato la mia candidatura tramite un selezionatore. La procedura ha richiesto 2 settimane. Ho sostenuto un colloquio presso SetSail nel mese di giu 2021
Colloquio
1. Phone Screen
2. REALISTIC take-home assessment
3. 4-interview panel consisting of a discussion with a senior engineer, coding interview with engineering manager, system design, then chat with CTO
The phone screen on Zoom was an excellent intro to the company. From there, a very realistic take-home assessment where the subject matter is given to you ahead of time so you won't be surprised by the need for a standard library and can brush up. I greatly appreciated and enjoyed doing it. A very nice break from leetcode and an opportunity to shine.
The final panel had a nice discussion about motivations and engineering style and life at SetSail. The coding interview that followed was reasonably realistic though it did involve DS&A. System design was typical. The chat with the CTO was a great insight into how the organization is led.
Thoroughly enjoyed everyone I interacted with and thought the interview process was more than fair. It's not too easy, and really stresses communication and collaboration skills which keeps a strong culture. The coding problems are realistic or close to it while still requiring some smarts.
Overall, I thought the interview process was very fair, yet stringent enough to maintain what they've got going on. I enjoyed it and even received feedback throughout stages which was very atypical and welcome. The feedback was exactly what I expected so no surprises.
Ultimately I missed the mark a little on the second coding round, which I also thought was fair.
I fully intend to interview again in the future.
Domande di colloquio [1]
Domanda 1
Very realistic back-end architecture debugging (~30 minutes). Real-world code problem (~45 minutes) with problem domain known ahead of time. Then a typical tech interview followed with a realistic problem that applied graph structures.
Standard "what motivates you" and behavioral and cultural questions.
