I didnt apply for this role but was contacted by the company about the role. When I came in for the interview there were 2 other people attending that I wasn't aware of. Not the biggest deal, but I like to research people online ahead of time to be more prepared when speaking to them.
The format of the interview was strange as I sat in a chair next to the owners desk with the 3 of them in front of me in a semi circle. It seemed very interrogation-y. Again though, whatever, just a strange set up. The owner seemed most prepared to speak to me and the other two people sat there awkwardly and asked me some very generic questions.
I asked a few questions as well, but didn't have a complete idea of what they were looking for. I'm a jack of all trades type of creative and they are a small shop so I attributed the vagueness to be, we need people who can do it all, and we don't want to pigeon hole the job description.
I sent the standard thank you email. They responded in kind saying they would be in touch soon with next steps.
SILENCE.
I sent a follow up email after a few weeks.
SILENCE.
Never have heard a word from them ever since. I don't mind not being the perfect fit for a role, or a culture fit, too expensive, heck even business needs and plans change. I do expect, after an in person interview, for a role I was contacted for (did not apply) to get at least a generic rejection email.
There were some odd things that happened in the interview which can all be explained away but I feel the silence after all of it was especially strange and who knows maybe a red flag.
I like scrappy small shops where everyone pitches in to make great work and high five at the end of a project but this place did leave me with an odd vibe.
