I wanted to join ShareTheMeal as I believed in the cause and thought they had a very interesting product. After my 2nd interview, I was told they'd like me to start in 3 months time (September) and they'd let me know exact date in August. After sending numerous emails in August, I finally received a response early September saying they will no longer be taking me on due to restructuring. While I should have been savvy enough not to rely on this opportunity without having signed a contract, I was extremely disappointed. I put my work-life on hold for 3 months. I was coming from a mid-level relatively well paid job and willing to work for free as an Intern given their noble purpose and alliance with the WFP.
