Applied through an initiative with the FIRST Robotics Competition. The application centered on a portfolio, which most of the interview was spent discussing, plus the standard why SpaceX, what would you contribute, would you be a good fit sort of questions. The whole process took from May to July, and then August of the following year I got a request to formally apply through their job board to ensure I was still a qualified candidate, and a final interview in September.

I applied online, and a recruiter reached out a few months later to set up my first interview with a Team Lead. It went well so I moved onto the second interview with the Team Manager. Both interviews were extremely technical and they grilled you on your projects.
