Unfortunately, I had a negative experience during the screening call with this company. The representative of the company did not inform me that they already had a candidate they were ready to hire. As a result, I wasted my time on the call itself and waiting for a second technical call. However, it all turned out to be pointless, as the vacancy essentially no longer existed. By that time, they had already found someone. By the way, this vacancy is still listed on job sites, and candidates will be wasting their time applying for it.
Unfortunately, the feedback they sent did not mention this aspect. Among the phrases about how they appreciate my efforts, they also stated that they decided to proceed with a better candidate. But how was it determined that this candidate was better if no one even spoke to me about technical topics? Considering my experience and knowledge—a 15-year relevant background—conclusions based on a 15-minute conversation, where this was not even mentioned, are at least premature.
I consider it unprofessional to conduct any calls with candidates if the vacancy is already effectively closed. I also view it as an even greater manifestation of unprofessionalism to evaluate a candidate without studying their experience and to express that in the feedback.
