Colloquio
The Spring Health data science team apparently doesn't have many ideas. Instead, they interview candidates and ask them to work on business problems for them which includes creating R code/visualizations, put the work together in a presentation, and come up with ideas for the company "in order to show how creative you are". They do this with lots of candidates without having the intention of hiring. It's unethical. My advice: if you think: my project is going to be different / I'll show how valuable I am, etc --- you won't. Your ideas will be taken from you and your work will be presented by the people who are already there as their own work.

Here is an "example" dataset. Please come up with business ideas for us. Show us how creative you are. Present your slides to the group. Help us understand exactly what you were thinking with every code chunk....

Lengthy interview process but they are really trying to make sure they hire the right person. Started with one HR call, one technical, one hiring manager hour long conversation, another technical and then potentially two other conversations for culture fit (didn't make it to this step)

Straightforward process overall. Recruiter screen, hiring manager interview, technical screen (past experience on a technical project and some basic SQL), followed by a crossfunctional interview and finally with the head of data science. They'll ask for references as well, but that's not a certain indicator of an offer being made. It took 2-3 weeks between reference calls to rejection, which makes me suspect they were interviewing a handful of other candidates in parallel.

Domanda 1
Tell me about a past project you're proud of. Asked a question for which I needed to develop a dataset and then write hypothetical SQL queries against it.
