Interview process started with a behavioral phone call with the hiring manager to gauge your interest and tell you more about the role. I was a candidate outside of the Chicago area currently working full time so the next round was a technical interview over Skype and then an invitation to fly to Chicago to interview in person at their office. To be honest, this process was an absolute nightmare. During the first stages I indicated that I was going to be out of the country for a significant amount of time in the upcoming month starting on June 15th. After passing the technical interview, they reached out to me on a Sunday, June 11th asking me to book flights for the following week so that I could interview in person. In addition, they would not be covering any costs as they "don't reimburse travel expenses for interview candidates". I decided it wasn’t reasonable to ask to travel on such short notice, on my own dime, while working full-time, and so close to my own personal travel so I asked about the option as a Skype interview that week. They declined that option and instead inquired when I’d be able to come in after my trip, noting that they’re trying to hire for the position as soon as possible. Long story short, a few more rounds of nightmare scheduling while traveling which ended up with me paying for a flight to Chicago right when I got back to the States. Then I get an email a few days after booking noting that the COO decided to cancel the role. Right outside of the window of canceling the flight. I asked to be reimbursed for the cancelation fee back which they eventually sent a check after” having to check with accounting”. Terrible behavior and unprofessional. I’d avoid completely especially if you’re not in the Chicago area.
