I was hired after a one year internship and brought on full time. Often Stanford posts jobs on their website when they already have somebody internally in mind. Also, the pay range is very broad for each position, so remember to negotiate hard. The best way to get hired at Stanford is to be referred by someone who works there.

Contacted by a person within the lab, met at the campus and interviewed with three different people. Initially interviewed with one postdoc, and then after that screening was passed on to two lab managers with more in-depth questions. They asked about commitment time, my experience, and asked for more details about my resume. I initially got in contact with a recruiter back in April, and didn't receive a first interview from a lab until June.
