Over the phone and thorough. Recruiter was super nice and informative. The whole phone call was about half an hour and I was able to ask all the questions I wanted and the recruiter was great at giving answers to them.

I applied through a referral. The process was simple; one recruiter call and 1 round of 2 interviews with an AD and Director. The interviews were simple and easy. However what went wrong was that about a week after, the recruiter called me to tell me there was great feedback but they wanted to interview more people. I followed up a few weeks later for an update and the recruiter stated they would have an update within the next 1-2 weeks. 2 weeks pass and I get an automated rejection email. This was completely unprofessionally to not receive a personal rejection email from the recruiter considering I was called and given good feedback, but essentially was their backup candidate.
