      Colloquio

By far the weirdest, most combative phone interview I've ever had. The recruiter started by immediately asking what was going on with my current company since they received several applicants from there (it's a related industry; it's not that strange that people would apply to it.) That was a strange way to begin the interview and also extremely off-putting. From there, as opposed to asking about my experience, he asked in a condescending way if I knew "how far" I lived from their office. Yes, I'm aware. Like many people in the job market, I'm willing to commute 30-40 minutes if the job is right. He asked maybe two questions about my experience--what I currently do at my job and why I want to leave my current one. He made a few random remarks about things on my resume that didn't really have any bearing on the position at all. He explained some info about the company then asked if I had any questions. I asked a couple, one of which was related to the position itself. He replied that he didn't know and that I would have to ask someone else on the team, then fell silent... It was regarding job duties. Every other phone interview I've ever had, the recruiter/HR person has been able to explain at least a little more about the position itself, but he didn't seem bothered with knowing any further information about what he was hiring for. He cut me off in the middle of speaking multiple times and treated me like I was an idiot. It felt like he was "negging" me into the job because after all that, he then revealed that I was one of only a small handful of applicants (out of "many") to be selected to talk to. I guess I was supposed to be flattered? Another review describes a recruiter rushing through the interview as if he was late to his golf game, and that's what this felt like. I was sort of on the fence about the job anyway, but this conversation really sealed the deal for me in absolutely not wanting to work there.
