Applied online and received an interview offer the day after. The interview as through Hirevue, a one-way video recording interview where you answer 5-6 questions through video recording. You have 30 seconds to prepare for each question and get one more chance to re-record your response for that specific question. I'm not totally against using Hirevue, but it does feel weird to just record your responses and the video system isn't too good compared to like Zoom (like you look really bad and weird in the video compared to how it feels on Zoom). It also would've been helpful to connect with a recruiter for future opportunities and/or receive more information about the interview process. Some of the skills-related questions were also weird because I was being recruited for an "experimental" data scientist and they were asking about statistical concepts that is not required by this position (probably more appropriate for a general non-experimental data scientist role). It made me wonder if the questions were actually tailored for this position. I heard back the day after submitting the Hirevue interview that they will not be moving forward with me. Interestingly, the email explicitly said it's their company policy to not give feedback because there are 'multiple factors' that influence the decision. An odd reason to not give someone feedback. It would be helpful to know what you could've done better and improve on your future interviews.
