      Candidatura

Ho presentato la mia candidatura online. Ho sostenuto un colloquio presso SullivanCotter (Minneapolis, MN) nel mese di lug 2016

      Colloquio

Initially applied online and was contacted within a day to set up a phone screen. The recruiter asked typical screening questions about my past work and education and said he would get back to me within a week to let me know if I were moving on in the process. He detailed the next steps: I would have to do a panel interview and if that went well then they would fly me up (I was relocating) for an in-person meeting with the members of the team, if that went well then I would interview with the chief HR officer and possibly even with the CEO. I was offered a panel interview with members of the team from 3 different states. They asked in more detail about my education and experiences. After that I was told they wanted to interview me in person. The recruiter at the Minneapolis office never mentioned flying me up until I sent an email to her and the recruiter I initially did my phone screening with who had told me that they would fly me in. Thankfully they did purchase my last-minute flight ($900). My itinerary for the in-office meeting was scheduled to last the entire day, with 4 separate interviews with 5 different people. Everyone was incredibly nice and I enjoyed talking to all of them and got to know them more on a personal level to make sure we meshed well. I was contacted the next week and was told that I "did very well" and we began to talk about the things I would need in an offer in order to take it and was told that getting an offer was very likely as long as the last interview(s) went as well. I then interviewed with a principal on the team stationed in Georgia -- she asked me some more detailed questions based on one part of my experience as it was an area she focused on and she wanted to hear what I had to say. A few days later I interviewed with the chief HR officer by phone and it lasted about 30 min -- everything I said had been mentioned before in my previous 7 interviews. I was then told a member of their team in Atlanta wanted to talk with me as well. That interview was not an interview, it was a 50-year-old man telling me that he thought I would be "too difficult to manage" due to my thoughts on ethical compensation practices and how I put ethics and financial logic above all else. He went on for more than thirty minutes belittling me and telling me that my views were wrong and that no one wanted to work with a twenty-something-year-old who thought for himself and was unafraid to voice my thoughts and concerns. Fair to say that was my last contact with the firm -- after 8 interviews spanning nearly 6 weeks and flying to and from Minneapolis I was told they were no longer interested. All this trouble just to get a scolding in the end from a professional who disagreed with me. Obviously the entire process maid me realize even if some of the people were great to converse with, they are very much not interested in someone who thinks and want people who just follow orders. It wasn't a fit. They insisted all the interviews were necessary to find the right person -- honestly you would have thought I was applying for some sort of clearance with all the hoops I had to go through just to be rejected. Interview questions and process were not difficult, they were repetitive and a waste of time after the in-person interviews.

Received an email to interview 6 months AFTER I applied for the position. The recruiter did not confirm or follow up when I gave my availability. I was also asked to complete 3 assessments. Seems very disorganized, maybe I’ll hear back in another 6 months.

Slow and tedious. Job description had no relevance to role as explained by interviewers. Took a long time between interviews on next steps. When assessments were asked for they didn’t seem to reflect the job content either.

Very lengthy. It took months. I interviewed at least four times with at least 10 people. Some in person and some remote interviews. I was finally offered the job when I informed them that I had another offer.
