TEKsystems warned me their interview process was demanding, When I started I felt confident they really wanted to get to know me before deciding if me being in the position would be a mutually beneficial fit. However as the interview process progressed their level of professionalism declined and I am glad I did not get this position. I had several pre-interview phone calls with a recruiter which was to go over my resume and get the typical interview questions out of the way. They also gave me a writing sample and asked that I fill it out and send it back to them BEFORE I was offered an in-person interview. They say it is to gauge your writing skills, which also was something that sounded good to me because they seemed to care about finding the best match. After they received my writing sample they did offer me an in-person interview which they said would take about 3 hours. I had to take a whole afternoon off of my current job. I was up front with them and told them my office location was closing but I was looking to spend the next 10+ years with a reputable company who cares about their employees. When I got there there were a series of two interviews. The first was with two senior members of the team I would be working on and the second was with two higher up employees who I would report directly to. Both interviews went beautifully and I had a great time. The employees are not to blame here because they had some unusual questions and overall it was an amazing conversational interview. After an hour with the first pair and an hour with the second pair, I was given a surprise writing sample. The question was very basic and I was given the final 30 minutes to write it on a company laptop. Needless to say I passed the interview with flying colors, so why is my review negative? The recruiter called me and they wanted to offer me the job. They gave me the base pay, which was competitive. Again I had mentioned up front that my office was closing so I would not be able to start until after the office had closed IF THEY WOULD BE WILLING TO WORK WITH ME ON START DATE. The recruiter wasn't sure they could budge on start date because the position had been empty for so long but she said she would check and get back to me. When she called again she said they would not mind working with me on start date so we negotiated me to start in the role in the middle of the summer. I accepted. She said congratulations and that she would send me the official offer letter and information over right away. All I would need to do is sign it and get it back to her. We started talking about benefits and I even typed up my resignation letter to my current company. The email with the "formal offer letter" never came. Instead I get an email insisting I call the recruiter for yet another chat. Turns out they don't want to offer me anything. They need someone to start immediately. Again, this is the reminder that I set the expectation from the beginning about the time I needed. I said okay I can give my two weeks to my current company and start in two weeks if that would work better for them just to start the position (because after a fantastic interview process I was excited about it). Then she says to me well we really needed someone immediately and figured you could not do it so we have decided to pursue other options. This is why I am writing this review, seems to me like the offered multiple people the job to see who would accept the lease amount of money. TEKsystems why did you waste so much of my time? Glad they showed their level of professionalism before I wasted any more of my time there. They need to communicate better.
