I had an interview with the Data Scientist and Head of Development via Teams. The questions they asked were fairly general, mostly focused on my past experience.
However, their feedback didn’t seem aligned with the questions they actually asked.
They mentioned that I seemed more interested in data analysis than engineering, which was unexpected. I have no particular interest in data analysis and have always identified as a software engineer, though I do have experience working with data in an engineering context.
They also commented that I might be better suited to working in a large team rather than a small one. This was unexpected, as they didn’t ask me anything about the team environments I’ve worked in. For context, I’ve spent over six years working effectively in a small team of just four people.
It seems the questions asked during the interview didn't offer the necessary insight to support the feedback provided.
