I applied online and was asked to interview. The Workday software they use wouldn't let me schedule an interview after many tries. I called the store and they kept telling me they were going to fix it. I called again and they set up an interview over the phone. I go to the store and wait. Finally someone comes up to me and asks what position I'm applying for. I said Visual Merchandiser and he says "oh that position isn't available anymore, but it's still online" and then he laughed. I asked why I was brought in and he said something about when people apply for leadership positions Target can't see their actual applications? He asked about my experience and I've already been a VM at a different chain which he hadn't ever heard of. He then told me about their "entry level" positions which are stocking shelves and that's what they'll be interviewing me for and about my pay expectations. My expectations were higher than what he could offer for entry level. I wasn't looking for entry level that's why I applied to the VM position. If the position is filled, why was I called in for an interview? And why would they not tell me that before I drove all the way over?
